Benefits of District Heating

A district heating network has a central heat source supplying heating water and / or domestic hot water to two or more separate buildings on the site. This heat source will then be connected to the various buildings in the scheme via an underground pre-insulated pipe network designed to maintain the water temperature when in transit (avoiding heat losses to improve energy efficiency). District heating still only makes up a few percent of the UK energy market however the industry has seen rapid growth in recent years and district heating will be become increasingly important to the UK in the future.

Benefits of dual and quad core pre-insulated pipe

At Mibec we supply a wide range of pre-insulated pipe products from leading manufacturers like Rehau, Microflex or our own Mibec DHP pipe. Pre-insulated pipe is typically used to form district heating networks and are specially designed to maintain the water temperature when in transit between the central heat source and the buildings in the scheme. In this short article we look at one of the key benefits of plastic pipes for use as a heat main – the ability to include multiple carrier pipes in the same section of pre-insulated pipe. This feature both simplifies the project design and

Pre-insulated pipe is typically used to form either district heating networks or connect a building to a remote heat source in smaller A-to-B projects. This type of product is specially designed to maintain the water temperature (for hot water and /or heating water) when in transit between the heat source and the buildings on the site. We can supply a wide range of pre-insulated pipe products from leading manufacturers like Rehau, Microflex or our own Mibec DHP Pipe to suit your application. At Mibec, we offer a full free of charge specification service covering the whole of the UK, designed to
