Installing REHAU Pre-Insulated District Heating Pipes: Knowledge That Makes a Difference
As part of Finley’s training as Mibec’s new technical sales trainee, he visited REHAU’s headquarters to undergo rigorous installation training to help him understand the challenges our customers face on-site. He shares his experience in this article.
Understanding how the systems are installed is just as important as selecting the correct products. That’s why I enjoyed my day with the fantastic team at REHAU, learning about the specifics of their product ranges. REHAU’s pre-insulated pipe ranges are designed to be flexible—whether RAUVITHERM, RAUTHERMEX, or RAUVIPEX— which means the trench layout must be designed around the pipe, not the other way around. This is where proper training, like the extensive training I completed with REHAU, sets us apart at Mibec. We use hands-on learning experiences to ensure we can give our customers the best advice.
As a team, we understand the importance of swept trenching, which follows smooth, natural curves rather than sharp angles. This approach offers several key benefits:
- Fewer fittings – the pipe can follow the bend naturally.
- Lower labour costs – less cutting, jointing, and underground assembly.
- Improved reliability – fewer underground joints mean fewer potential weak points.
- Reduced long-term maintenance – minimising risks of leaks and system failures.
By sharing this knowledge as a team, we can ensure that every Mibec customer receives clear, confident guidance for their pipe project that’s rooted in real installation experience—not guesswork.
It’s this blend of technical understanding and practical training that helps us to ensure each pipe project we work on is efficient, cost-effective, and built to last.
As a trainee, learning experiences like this mean our customers can already trust me to find the right pipe solutions to their project’s challenges. I am proud to work for a company that recognises the importance of technical competence and that it’s built on:
- On-the-job experience
- Ongoing training
- Team discussions
- Lessons learned from real projects
- Collaboration with industry partners like REHAU
I’m excited to continue my learning journey, as when everyone understands the products, the processes, and the challenges installers face, we can offer better advice, produce more accurate quotations, and support customers more effectively from start to finish.
